ABOUT MY WORK

My work in clay began years ago with beads and pendants to create materials for my jewelry designs.  Eventually, other jewelry artists began asking if I would make pieces for their work as well.  A ceramic bead and pendant business followed shortly.  Those pieces have been featured in a variety of beading and jewelry magazines including Stringing, Bead Trends and Bead & Button.

After starting a project to make a tile surround for my fireplace I realized that I also enjoyed working on larger pieces so I branched out into functional work.  Some of my favorite textures come from antique lace and vintage fabric printing stamps  that I use on both handbuilt and wheel thrown pieces.  I work in mid-fire stoneware and porcelain clays that are fired to around 2200F with lead-free glazes to create strong and durable surfaces.
