Amanda Ko is a Chicago based Architect and Potter. Born and raised in Chicago, Amanda’s life has been heavily influenced by the city. Design and Space has always been her passion, so it was just a matter of time until Pottery and Ko met.
Prior to starting Pottery & Ko, Amanda has worked at several top architecture firms in Downtown, Chicago. Her discipline, attention to detail, and craftsmanship for model building naturally transferred over to the potter’s wheel along with hand-sculpting. All these experiences as a Designer helped her learn, design, and create ceramics as an artist.
Amanda creates a wide range of objects with a focus on refined and bespoke vases. Uniquely shaped with curves and edges, her art explores the relationship between minimalism form and organic materiality. Intended for luxury homes and design projects, her aim is to create modern, inventive, and sophisticated works of art. The artist finds inspiration from her architectural background and nature’s raw beauty; thus resulting in contemporary pieces that are simple yet provocative.
